A summer to immerse yourself in the true spirit of craftsmanship with your children in a casual and carefree atmosphere.

If you are concerning ″I don’t think it’s easy for children to do crafts,″ or ″I don’t want to be too formal.″
–Don’t worry.

The National Crafts Museum, which has supported children’s encounter with crafts for more than 20 years, has prepared an enjoyable experience for children and their families to spend at the museum.
Let’s watch your children grow up in a carefree environment while deepening family communication.

◼︎″Light and Shadow Tanken Map″ (self-guided tour)

“Expand the map and explore the Mysterious World of Light and Shadow.
There are two types of clues written on the map.
Large letters are for little children and small letters are for big children.
For children who have difficulty reading the letters, an adult can read to them.
There is also a stamp card to record the six mysterious artworks found and a worksheet to report the results of the exploration in pictures and words.

  • Dates: June 18 (Tuesday) – August 18 (Sunday), 9:30-17:30 *Admission until 30 minutes before closing
  • Place: Exhibition Room
  • Eligibility: Preschoolers to junior high school students
  • Capacity: 1,000 people on a first-come, first-served basis during the exhibition period
  • Fee: Free for junior high school students and younger
  • Participation: Available at the reception desk on the 1st floor.
    *Adults and university students accompanying children are required to visit the exhibition “Light & Shadow for Crafting Crafts: Independent Study for Kids & Adults”.

◼︎″Tanken! Children’s Craft Museum: The Secret of Light and Shadow″ (Worksheet & Work)

Let’s visit the mysterious world of light and shadow with “Tankenka no oboegaki” in hand.
Take your ″Tokimeki no Kiroku″ with you to the Work Corner.
You can make your own “Pika★Boko Badge” to prove that you are a cool explorer.

  • Place: Exhibition Room
  • Target: Junior high school students and younger and their parents/guardians
  • Capacity: About 100 people for each session on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Fee: Free for junior high school students and younger
  • How to participate: Entry at the event reception on the 1st floor
    *Adults and university students accompanying their children are required to visit the “Light & Shadow for Crafting Crafts: Independent Study for Kids & Adults”.

*Free admission for high school students and younger, persons under 18 years old, and persons over 65 years old.
*Admission after 17:30 is ¥150 for adults and ¥70 for university students on the nighttime opening days (July 19 (Fri.) – August 17 (Sat.), every Friday and Saturday, and for 11 days on August 11 (Sun., holiday), 2024).
*All prices include consumption tax.

There is a section of the venue that feels somewhat dimly lit.
